ARTWORK N° 47
Orpheus Singing
The subject of Orpheus singing was conceived and created by Andreotti in two versions: the current great model and a smaller one with a different design. The following declaration of the sculptor can be read in some lines of the wide correspondence between Andreotti and Aldo Carpi: “I’m creating an Orpheus leaning on a tree and singing. Maybe this will be the statue for Ottolenghi. Piacentini, oh, dear, asked me for the spirit which wins the matter. Here it is. The model is beautiful”.
