ARTWORK N° 3
The sleeping child
Signed and dated on the back of the base, L. Andreotti 1908 Milan, this art piece belongs to the period of the sculptor’s stay in Paris, in between frequent trips to Milan. It shows his vigilant and sensitive attention to the artistic and cultural Italian, French and European expressions. His reflections on Rodin-Bourdelle do not yet characterize this piece, but elegance à la Troubetzkoy is highlighted, instead, and integrated with the material and formal mobility of Medardo Rosso (operating in Paris at the time) into a descriptive and familiar story.
