ARTWORK N° 17
Bìos
The bas-relief represents a naked tree-like woman and a naked boy picking fruits from it. The woman-tree of mother-life is represented with her son and fruits of her maturity. The body has the monumentality of a giant and a muscular emphasis which recalls the artworks of Rodin. This is a moment of great exercise and creativity for Andreotti who, still in 1906, even if busy between Milan and Paris, joins the Florentine group “Giovane Etruria” among which are Galileo Chini (the main advocate), Plinio Nomellini, Sirio Tofanari, Sergio Tommasi, in a common defence and research for a renewal of Tuscan art.
