Woman with cherries
This art piece is cited by Ojetti in a letter to Andreotti of August 14, 1919. As in other figures of this period (e.g. “Woman fleeing”) oriental elements emerge from the soft and fluent compositional and decorative balances, as well as evident Asian facial features which are close to expressions of Indian art, then appreciated by French artists (Bourdelle) and also by Libero Andreotti who retains some compositional elements, gestures, and physiognomic features. But the way legs and arms are opposed, the somatic and decorative details are sculptural elements on which the artist elaborates his themes, as in his next artworks. “Woman getting out of bed” (1921) will be the best example.
