ARTWORK N° 1
The praying child
This art piece, signed and dated on the back of the base, Andreotti 1908, represents a child absorbed in prayer: his long and thin clasped hands emerge from the base, lightly touching his half-closed lips. As in the two previous works of 1906 (Thoroughbred and Donna Vittoria) the technique consists in moving the material into the air and into light by means of small and immediate touches, thus obtaining vibrations and transparencies, in an impressionistic sense; almost joining the art works of Medardo Rosso (F. Previti, 1981), who, having moved to France, realized his works by a “decomposition of plastic consistency” obtained with the use of wax.
