ARTWORK N° 3
The Spanking
Signed and dated down on the right: S.L.A. 920 this is an art piece which has been realized by the heirs after Andreotti’s death. It is a bas-relief very lightly engraved on the surface, representing a domestic country scene, which takes place in the yard just outside the home doorway: a mother who, by holding on to her son’s arm with her left arm, is about to spank him while a hen beaks grapes from the child’s hand who draws away crying in an act of defense, while a doggie sleeps peacefully. This plaster cast is in line with other artworks of the same years recalling the motives of the Young mother on the house door and Forgiveness (F. Previti, 1981).
