The Spanish comb
It represents a female figure in the attitude of fixing her tied up hair held with a comb. Even if representing a Spanish woman dressed and combed in a European style, the somatic traits indicate once again the sculptor’s interest in Asian physiognomies. The sole bronze model of this art piece (Vignali casting) is nowadays in a private Collection in Venice and was presented at the “Primaverile Fiorentina” in 1921, together with seven other pieces of similar extraordinary quality of solid modelling (Bacchante, Woman with a fan, Peasant Woman stretching, Woman on the sack, Woman waving, Mother, Nude). In the catalogue of the exhibition Mario Tinti highlighted these art works for their sense of musicality and grace, for the aesthetic result and integral beauty, for the architectural sense and harmony of the composition and the intense style as emotional synthesis.
